Indian Premier League (2017) has entered into week two. The 11th match of the tournament will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 13th April. This being the first home match for Kolkata Knight Riders, opening ceremony will be organised before the match. Shraddha Kapoor and Monali Thakur will be performing for the event.
This will be the third game for Kolkata Knight Riders in this tournament. After winning its first game by 10 wickets against Rising Pune Supergiant, KKR lost in the thrilling match against the Mumbai Indians. Except for the avoidable errors made during the death overs, KKR performed decently right through the game. Kolkata has to surely look at the mistakes committed during the death overs, especially with the fielding. Bowlers looked helpless and bowled too many full tosses which led to the game getting slipped out of their hands. Chris Lynn had a shoulder injury during the game and is likely to miss the complete IPL as stated by the KKR coach, Jacques Kallis. Chris Lynn would be difficult to replace as he was looking in great form with the bat.
This will be also the third match for Kings XI Punjab in the tournament. Kings XI Punjab won both of their earlier matches and this will be first match out of their fort. KXIP beat both Rising Pune Supergiant and Royal Challengers Bangalore with a fair margin. Skipper Glenn Maxwell finished both the matches in style. Axar Patel bowled with an economy of 3 per over and became the Man of the Match.

KKR and KXIP have had 19 encounters so far and KKR has won 13 of them and KXIP is lagging behind with 6 wins. And the last 7 matches between them have been won by KKR. KKR may look good in records but considering the current form of the teams, KXIP looks way ahead. KXIP is playing as a single unit while KKR have many pots to fill.
