Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Gujarat Lions (GL) in the sixth match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday, April 9th. This will be the second game at the Sunrisers Hyderabad home ground; first one being the opening match of the IPL 2017.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had won its first game against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 35 runs. Sunrisers appear to be in a pretty decent form, especially with Yuvraj scoring 62 runs in just 27 balls; in his own inimitable style. Bowling of Sunrisers always look strong on the paper but they showed that day what they really are made up of. Bhuvi and Ashish Nehra were brilliant in the death overs. They are tuning fine and playing like champions.

Gujarat Lions on the other hand, lost their first game against Kolkata Night Riders by 10 wickets. It was the kind of match which Gujarat Lions would better want to quickly erase from their living memories. Kolkata Knight Riders embarrased Gujarat Lions in their own turf by chasing a total of 183 runs with 10 wickets in hand and 31 balls to spare. Gujarat Lions need to work on their bowling; as leaving Praveen Kumar, every one else conceded runs like the proverbial rain of Latin American forests. Suresh Raina, Brendon McCullum and Dinesh Karthik are in fine touch with their bats.

Head to Head: SRH vs GL

Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad have encountered each other three times in IPL 2016, all matches being won by SRH with a huge difference of 10 wickets, 5 wickets and 4 wickets respectively. Considering recent performace of both the teams, Gujarat Lions are on back foot.
